The origin of the traditional Cumbia dress is said to come from the city of El Banco in Magdalena, but was made famous at the Carnaval in Barranquilla.

The men in their white pants and shirts with red scarf, bag and hat, dance behind the women, its all about the woman it is really their show.
Music is provides by a small group called a Millo and consist of a small bamboo flute or a gaita with its clay and tar mouth piece, maracas, and a drum.
This coming Saturday is the carnaval of Santo Tomas, my favorit of the rural communities for the traditional carnaval dress and music.
